Process
Step 1- First your teacher will give you a puzzle card. You will need to find the other two classmates that have the puzzle piece to complete your puzzle. This will be your group for the project.
Step 2- The Pirate Loot Candy Company were very specific in what they wanted to be included in their machines, and said the candy machines needed to have at least one inclined plane, and two levers (one lever to pull, and one lever to push). Each of you will begin by signing into google docs and opening up the What Is an Inclined Plane, Lever, and Push/Pull document that I shared with you. Click on File and then click Make a Copy. You will be taking notes on this document as you research what an inclined plane, lever, and push/pull are. When you finish taking your notes you will need to share the document with me.
Step 3- Researching Inclined Planes, Levers, and Pushes/Pulls. You will be using the following links to research and take your notes.

Step 4: You will look and read about different fun things to do in Branson. This should help you with ideas of things that could represent Branson.
Step 5: Now you will get with your group members and discuss what all you learned about inclined planes, levers, pushes/pulls, and things about Branson. You will be brainstorming a possible idea for a candy machine that would represent something you could do in Branson. Once your group has decided on the theme for your candy machine, you will need to brainstorm how you are going to create it. Remember, the Pirate Loot Candy Company said you must have at least one inclined plane, and at least two levers (one to push and one to pull). Look at some examples of candy machines below to help you with your ideas before you begin to design and create your candy machine.
Step 6: Now you will use the planning guide to help organize your idea for your machine. You will need to brainstorm with your group what is the name of your candy machine, what materials/objects are you going to use and build your candy machine with, what kind of inclined plane are you going to use, what kind of two levers are you going to use...Only one team member will need to type and share this document with me.
Step 7: You will spend the next 1-2 days creating your candy machine with your team members. You may use items I have provided, or you may bring items from home per your parents approval.
Step 8: Now you and your team members will create a power point to go with your presentation of your candy machine with the Pirate Loot Candy Company. Each team member will be responsible for one slide. Slide 1- What part of Branson you are representing with a little bit of information/pictures about it. Slide 2- The name of your candy machine and examples and pictures of what kind of inclined plane and levers you used. Slide 3- An explanation and/or directions of how it works.
Step 9- You will be presenting your power points to the Pirate Loot Candy Company. Each person that created the slide will be responsible for presenting and speaking about that slide during the presentation. After the presentation you will need to do a demonstration of using your candy machine to show that it actually works.
